Have you ever wanted to be God?

Have you ever wanted to be God?

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be God? Bit of a far out thought but having all that power over people seems like a mind-blowing thing. Well, if you ever want to feel this power, buy a smartphone. In particular, buy an iPhone. Not just any iPhone, the iPhone 3GS with the new software on it. It was one of the best things I ever did. Originally, when they came out and my boyfriend said he wanted one I thought he was mad. So much money for something that plays music and phones people as well? Why not just buy an ipod and a phone? But when he got one I felt as though we had another person in the relationship. Everything he did surrounded around his phone. Every time I went to look something up or ask somebody for directions he was there before me with all of the answers anyone would ever need. So I decided that I would join the gang and for Christmas 2009 my boyfriend bought me an iphone, much to his despair. It was insane the amount of fun that I could have with one little piece of technology. I could do anything, from getting directions to somewhere to throwing angry birds at little angry green pigs to destroy them. Suddenly the world was at my fingertips. My favourite feature was the instant access to everything. Facebook was just one button away and so was the world wide web. Everyday I can inform my friends about what I’m doing and who I’m doing it with. Most of the time it’s with the people who actually bother to read my page but that’s not the point! Then there were the games. As well as rekindling my love for the Sims, it introduced me to the world of Angry Birds. What a game! Those evil green pigs deserved everything they got! However, on completion of the games and the wearing off of the novelty of having a smartphone, your attention turns to the point of having one. What is the point? OK, you feel like God for a few weeks and can show it off but when everybody else has caught on and has a smartphone, suddenly you don’t feel as cool and your God-like powers seem to vanish. This, or so I thought, was where the iPhone 4 came in. It was cracked up to be the “best one yet” with so many features that your power would be better than those silly little 3GS owners. What a mistake I made. Everything was the same. All of the software, the apps and the showing off remained at the same level. But this time, there were downsides. Such as the fact that if you put your hand over the left side of the phone, you have no signal and your call gets cut off. After the excitement of getting a new phone, the iPhone turned out to be somewhat average. Although it’s cool to have that power at your fingertips, that’s what computers are for and to be quite frank, if you don’t have directions before you leave, then you don’t need a smartphone, you need some organisational skills.
